CARNATIONS


1. In Christian lore, the Carnation was first seen to bloom in the exact spot where Mary wept after watching Jesus carrying his cross through the streets of Jerusalem.

2. Carnations include over 300 different species, and the Royal Botanical Garden in Madrid and the Imperial College London are studying the flower to determine how it accomplished such wide species diversity in such a short period of time.

3. The carnation is the state flower of Ohio, and is the official emblem of Mother's Day in the U.S. and Canada

4. The scientific name for the carnation, Dianthus caryophyllus, means "flower of the gods"

5. The single flowers of the Carnations species have 5 petals and vary from white to pink to purple in color. Border Carnation cultivars may have double flowers with as many as 40 petals.

INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT COTTON :-

1. Cotton has been cultivated in many different parts of the world for more than 5,000 years. Cotton accounts for about 40 percent of total world fiber production.

2. Fiber for one cotton T-shirt requires 256.6 gallons (971.33 Liters ) of water.

3. Cotton seeds are tough enough to survive travel across oceans on the wind.

4. The actual word “cotton” is an English version of the Arabic “qutun” or “kutun,” a generic term meaning fancy fabric.

5. Cotton was originally not only grown in white, but assorted other colors including brown, rust and light purple

TULIPS


Tulip is the third most popular flower in the world, next only to rose and chrysanthemum.


A tulip plant has typically 2-6 leaves, while some species have up to 12 leaves. 


An average height of a tulip plant ranges from 10-70 centimeters.


Tulip is a flower in the genus Tulipa, which comprises of about 150 bulbous species.


There are nearly 3000 varieties of tulips, known by various names.


Tulip is used for the treatment of cancer in certain countries.

INTERESTING FACTS ABUOT MINT:

1. Mint was one of the earliest herbs discovered. It has been found in Egyptian tombs dating back to 1000 BC and has been part of the Chinese pharmacopoeia even longer. 

2. Peppermint is one of the oldest and best tasting home remedies for indigestion. Today mint is still used to alleviate flatulence and aid the digestion.

3. Mint’s essential oils are used in perfume, cosmetics, air fresheners, drink flavorings, candies and medications.

4. The United States produces more than 70% of the world’s supply of peppermint and spearmint.

5. There are about 30 species of mint and some say almost 500 varieties, including peppermint, spearmint, apple mint etc.
